Swallow Tales – Part 14

We guess five! I mentioned earlier in the week we’d be back when we’re able to take a guess at how many babies our barn swallows are feeding in their nest. We’re guessing five!

They get more and more active every day. Here are some pictures taken yesterday.

Along with the clearly-visible baby, there’s another one showing to the left, sort of underneath the mom’s belly.

One baby clearly visible, a fuzzy head underneath the mom’s belly, another beak far left.

One baby front and center, a fuzzy head under the mom’s belly, and a third to the left.

One on the right, two on the left.

Now two on the right, one on the left (maybe two?)

This is the picture that makes us think there are five. One open mouth on the right, one closed mouth behind him, one open mouth front and center, one to his left being fed, another further left. We think!

At least four (three beaks + one fuzzy head).

Things will continue to be interesting now that they’re moving around so much. We’ll be back with another update in a day or two. Thanks for following along!
