The Bluebird Diaries – Vol. 2 No. 5

We don’t have any new nesting news for you today but we’re having so much fun with the babies from the previous nesting we wanted to share it with you!

We see two babies regularly. One is very shy and the other is brave. Yesterday, the brave one discovered a small bird bath we have which only stands about a foot off the ground and is very shallow. This baby just loves it! These pictures were taken yesterday and today.

We sure did recognize the look on the little guy’s face. Remember him? Then and now

Possibly not the same exact bird but definitely from the same brood. And definitely the same facial expression!

A small breeze wafted by which gave us the chance to snap this shot of the baby’s feathers. Although the wing feathers have filled in nicely his belly is still kind of fluffy and fuzzy! Eventually he will molt to the typical rust and white belly coloring.

Pretty baby!

What a sweet bird. We had bluebirds in one of our boxes earlier in the year but I think the sparrows drove them out. There were Carolina Chickadees nesting in the same box a few weeks later and now those eggs have disappeared. 😦 Thanks for sharing your babies!
