Our male bluebird was not happy with a group of about 20 starlings visiting the yard on several occasions today. I try to tell him they aren’t a threat, but he doesn’t believe me. 🙂 Starlings are actually a big threat to bluebird nests in the wild, when Bluebirds use abandoned woodpecker cavities or other nests with entrance holes big enough to admit the starlings. But the opening in our nest box is (intentionally) too small.
Everyone’s doing fine here. Another chilly, windy day but the mom and her eggs are warm inside the box! We’ll be back tomorrow.
